I am a YouTuber, not much of a writer, although I do have to write up the texts of my videos. I am a Christian, and so are my videos. YouTube is a hostile place for Christians, much like many other places are in this world. If you make Christian videos you become a target for atheists, witches, wiccans, pagans, and those who follow different religions like Hinduism or Islam. I get it mostly from the atheists and witches. I've made some videos critiquing Rob Bell and the Emergent Church, Brian McLaren, etc. I get a weekly dose of hate mail over those Emergent church videos. :) If only people would defend our Savior as they do Rob Bell, the Church would be in a lot better state. I am used to being called every vulgar name that has ever been made up and it doesn't faze me in the slightest. I've heard the most foul language you'd ever want to hear because I am a Christian YouTuber. Fine, I accept that. That is just part of being a Christian in an ungodly world.

The one thing I never expected was an attack like the one certain Christians have been experiencing on YouTube. On April 30, 2009, I received a private message from TicToc Ministries on you tube. It was titled "Calling All Calvinists: A Call to Repentance." You know that sense of dread you feel when you know you're about to experience something unpleasant? Yeah, I had that feeling.

Watching this video was extremely difficult. I admit I cannot get through the whole thing. This self-righteous woman preaching against those of the Reformed faith accusing us of following John Calvin instead of Jesus Christ. She goes on to malign Calvinism and in her second video about this subject she calls on all her fellow Christians to shun us until Calvinists "repent of Calvinism."

Give me a break! I am a Calvinist. Monica Dennington is the woman's name who is preaching against Calvinism and the ministry is hers. I have never done any of the things she has accused us of nor has any Calvinist that I know. After calling for us to be warned twice and then put out and shunned she blocked every Calvinist she could find on YouTube and those of us who commented on her first video. She said when we delete our comments that will prove that we have repented of Calvinism and, I am paraphrasing here, we can enter into fellowship with her and the rest of the church again.

I'd rather die. Seriously. Why on earth would she want us to repent of following Christ and upholding the Doctrines of Grace? To us it is denying Christ Himself! It has been an ugly time for those in the Reformed faith on YouTube. Following her lead, others have made videos condemning Calvinists and even John Calvin himself. I don't know how many times we've had to insist that no, John Calvin did not murder Michael Servetus. One woman in her video series has stated that Calvinism is very similar to the religion of Islam and that Calvinists are anti-Semitic! Famous Calvinist preachers have become a target as well. From Luther to Spurgeon, John Piper to John MacArthur, R. C. Sproul to Paul Washer, all have been certified by these people as "false teachers" and "wolves in the fold." We are accused of calling God the creator of sin and evil. James White was recently maligned this week and accused of saying God decrees child rape and had to make a video himself to tell truth of the issue. It's getting ridiculous!

Calvinists on YouTube have made their own videos showing the charges made against our faith is untrue. I will be making them...mostly the historical aspect of the Reformed faith.

This is to be expected in a world where men's wicked hearts and desires are against the truth of God and His holy Word. Jesus said we would be persecuted, lied about, beaten and even killed for our faith. And we accept that. It's just a little harder to take from those who used to be your friends, even knowing that you are a Calvinist, suddenly turning on you like you are Satan in the flesh! The brethren are not to turn on each other like this. But many things that ought not be done are being done in the Name of God, just as it's always been down through the centuries. We are not the first to be persecuted and we won't be the last. And we are certainly not suffering for our faith like those who were before us did. None of us are being burned at the stake or tortured and beaten for our faith. No, not yet.

We will get through this. God is with those who belong to Him. And already, His glory is being shown throughout this whole YouTube "drama." How? Because all of us who are Reformed have sought each other out and comforted each other and supported each other and we're learning the history of Calvinism all over again. We're also realizing that together we can stand in unity, teaching those who will listen to us the truths that are in God's Word. We have grown stronger in our faith, we love and encourage one another and pray for one another and for those who are against us. We stand in His grace together, riding out this little storm praying that those who listen to us see their need for a Savior and come to Christ. And many have come to us wanting to know the truth of the issue, what Reformed theology really is and it's a wonderful thing to be a part of.

We are defending our faith and the truth of God's Word together. This is the result of our persecution. The fruits of our suffering and if it brings even one person to Christ, it is worth it. And even if it doesn't, it's still an honor to be persecuted for loving God.
